Tec^Edge
Academic Pipeline Program – this program seeks to attract and
retain some of the most promising research talent (undergraduate
through post-Doctorate) by offering relevant work experience through
collaborations with local government, industry, and academia
partners and their programs. Current initiative is with the Sensor
Aided Vigilance joint team (see below) and Wright State University
to place five out of State students with the joint team this Summer
to work and learn and then to place five local students with the
joint team throughout the 2008 academic year to do the same. (Click
here for more information about the WSU summer program.)
Tec^Edge Regional Incubator Program –
this program seeks to attract and support small and/or
innovative research companies with offerings relevant to
Tec^Edge
stakeholders to
participate on joint teams and to locate and grow in the Dayton
region. Current initiative is still in the discussion stage with
three interested companies with offerings very relevant to Air Force
Research laboratory needs.
Sensor
Aided Vigilance Resident Team – this joint
team (government, industry, and academia), with a specific focus to
pursue persistent sensing technologies/approaches across time,
space, and frequency, began operation at
Tec^Edge
in June, 2007 for what is expected to be an extended period of time
(years).
Solution Forum –
on technologies/approaches to assist in organized, extensive
searches for a person of national interest in constrained or
sensitive environments. Still in the planning stage.
Visiting
Professor Program – The
Tec^Edge
community is enhanced by our visiting professor program.
Professors from fields including science, engineering and technology
are invited to become temporary residents of the
Tec^Edge
environment. These professors work
out of our facility and contribute to ongoing collaborations while
visiting the Dayton region to work alongside professionals from area
organizations. (Click here to see a list of current visiting
professors.)
Precision
Image Tracking and Registration Joint Team –
this team will be co-led by GE Aerospace in support of AFRL/SN to
develop and demonstrate improved onboard target geo-location,
tracking, and other airborne target exploitation capabilities. The
team is expected to come
together to reside at
Tec^Edge
for brief periods during the project and also when they demonstrate
their final results.
Developmental
Workshop on Innovation and Collaboration
–
Tec^Edge hosts a monthly Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL):
Innovation and Collaboration Workshop. These four day events
bring together AFRL members from across the country to work together
toward their personal skill sets and AFRL culture in the process.
Experienced workshop facilitators employ a combination of group
discussion, small team activities and brief lectures to immerse
participants in a collaborative and rewarding learning environment.
Virtual Hub
Message and Knowledge Sharing Boards
–

information. Current subject areas: Remote Biometrics, FEMA
First Response (Rubble Rousers)
